Creepy or Awesome? Celebs in Classic Paintings

Although classic art has its place in history and is a true test in mastering realism... I find it to be really boring.  However I did find these images to be very amusing (and maybe a little creepy) of Celebrities juxtaposed in classically traditional paintings.

Scott Wade Part 2

I first wrote about artist Scott Wade a few years back (post here)... but since then, there have been updates in his portfolio of "dirty car art".... The Royal wedding, and the Olympics...are just a few memorable events that he depicts... and I have to say, his new images are truly incredible....

As mentioned before, the artist uses his finger and sometimes a paintbrush to shade, highlight, and create temporary pictures on windows of unsuspecting vehicles. Amazing right?!

Art on Airplanes

Painting aircrafts (particularly abandoned ones) is a movement I knew nothing about. Check out this article (here) on "The Boneyard Project"... which talks about turning old aircrafts into works of art by hiring artists to re-paint them. I posted most of the pictures from the piece here on the blog. These photographs are crazy good!

Classic Works of Art on Toast

Norwegian food artist Ida Skivenes has made famous paintings by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, and Salvador Dalí much, much tastier than they originally were in her "toast series". I thought these images were a total crack up and wanted to share.. I included Batman and Wonder Woman as well because they were just as worthy as her more famous art subjects... Personally I wouldn't want to eat these works; they look too pretty! Thankfully no food went to waste as the artist, in true form, finishes each art toast with a bite!

Edvard Munch

Salvador Dalí

Frida Kahlo

Claude Monet

Vincent van Gogh

Andy Warhol

Batman

Wonder Woman

And in case you were wondering... the toast does get eaten in the end!

I'm In LOVE With Deborah Zlotsky's Geometric Art

I find myself online looking for painting inspiration a lot. I like to google all kinds of terms: GEOMETRIC, ABSTRACT, COLOR... only to fall short of discovering new and interesting images. You don't have to be well educated in art to know that good work is good because it looks expensive. Deborah Zlotsky’s  geometric images may look simple, but let me tell you.... they would be very difficult to copy. The sheer size of these paintings, and the contrast of hard geometric shapes that actually appear to be soft.... make these pieces complex to me. I can picture her work in some large Beverly Hills home with a spotlight on it... totally transferring the room into a modern museum. I love her color palate and compositions. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Evolution of "Dahlia Up Close" Painting by Karlin Meehan

This last week I was busy taking snapshots of my latest Dahlia painting. As usual, I love to share the progress of an artwork to show off the stages in which a piece comes together. Generally I do a light sketch in the beginning, and fill in large areas of canvas with color... however this painting was a little more complicated than I thought. After a few days of thinking, highlighting, and applying more and more acrylic paint ... I finally complete the piece in time so that I'm on to the next one! Enjoy.
